Approximately 50 attendees came to our “Information Night” and 18 attended via Zoom from Australia, Switzerland and Honiara.
The event was organized to share information about the society as well as grow the society’s membership.
ITSSI president Marlon Houkarawa shared the society’s strategic plan while Vice President Gordon Denty explained details about membership and the election process. Executive member Christina Kuper Wini spoke about techVoices, an ITSSI initiative to promote local IT stories, as well as promote the society’s online presence.
The media was also in attendance and MASI President Georgina Kekea expressed delight and her commitment at the prospect of forging a closer relationship with the society.
ITSSI is Solomon Island’s IT society launched by Prime Minister Sogavare in 2016.
The current executive was elected in February 2018 and so an AGM to elect a new executive is already scheduled for March 11 2021.
The event was hosted by the Solomon Islands government ICTS department who offered their conference center which enabled the society to also provide access for its overseas nembers to join the event online.
